The Human Rights Council decides to adopt the following text:
“The rights of indigenous peoples is an important humanitarian issue that has been widely discussed in various United Nations bodies,
“The Human Rights Council demonstrated the priority that it attached to the subject by adopting, in its resolution 1/2 of 30 June 2006, the text of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and transmitting it to the General Assembly for adoption,
“The Human Rights Council considers the Declaration to be a significant contribution to the protection of human rights and remains attentive to its fulfilment and the implementation of its principles by States.”
