Implementation of Human Rights Council resolution 19/37 on the rights of the child
Note by the secretariat
1. The present note is submitted pursuant to Human Rights Council resolution 19/37,
in which the Council requested the Secretary-General to submit to the Council, at its
twenty-second session, a report on the rights of the child, with information on the status of
the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
2. The secretariat has the honour to refer the Human Rights Council to the report of the
Secretary-General on the status of the Convention on the Rights of the Child submitted to
the General Assembly (A/67/225). No new ratifications of the Convention have been
registered since the submission of that report. As at 1 December 2012, there were 150
States parties to the Optional Protocol on the involvement of children in armed conflict and
161 States parties to the Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and
child pornography.
3. The list of States parties to the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the
Optional Protocols thereto is publicly available on the treaty body webpage of the Office of
the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
