Note by the Secretariat

In its resolution 19/20, the Human Rights Council requested the Office of the United

Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to prepare a report outlining the role of the

public service as an essential component of good governance in the promotion and

protection of human rights, including a compilation of good practices based on information

received from a variety of stakeholders, and to present it to the Council at its twenty-fourth

session. In accordance with the calendar of thematic resolutions of the Council, the report

will be submitted to the Council at its twenty-fifth session.
