The Human Rights Council, in its decision 2/102 of 6 October 2006, requested the Secretary-General and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to “continue with the fulfilment of their activities, in accordance with all previous decisions adopted by the Commission on Human Rights and to update the relevant reports and studies”. The report of the Secretary-General on the protection of human rights in the context of human immunodeficiency virus and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is submitted on a biennial basis, pursuant to Commission on Human Rights resolution 2005/84. The latest report on this issue was submitted to the fourth session of the Human Rights Council in 2007 (A/HRC/4/110). The next report on the issue will be submitted in 2009, unless otherwise decided by the Council.
