Note by the Secretariat*

The Human Rights Council, in its decision 2/102, requested the Secretary-General and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to “continue with the fulfillment of their activities, in accordance with all previous decisions adopted by the Commission on Human Rights and to update the relevant reports and studies”. On the current issue of the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, an updated annual report was submitted to the Human Right Council at its fourth session.1 The next annual report on the current issue will be submitted to the Council at its eighth session, in June 2008, unless otherwise decided by the Council.
