Statement by the President

PRST 22/1.

Mainstreaming human rights throughout the United Nations system

At the 50th meeting, held on 22 March 2013, the President of the Human Rights Council read out the following statement:

The Human Rights Council,

Acknowledging that peace and security, development and human rights are the pillars of the United Nations system and the foundations for collective security and well-being, and recognizing that development, peace and security and human rights are interlinked and mutually reinforcing,

Reaffirming that all human rights are universal, indivisible, interrelated, interdependent and mutually reinforcing, and that all human rights must be treated in a fair and equal manner, on the same footing and with the same emphasis, Welcomes the high-level panel discussion on the mainstreaming of human rights throughout the United Nations system, held at the twenty-second session of the Human Rights Council.”

be contained in the report of the Council on its twenty-second session (A/HRC/22/2), chap. I.
