32/8. Mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the right to food
The Human Rights Council,
Recalling all previous resolutions of the General Assembly and the Human Rights
Council on the right to food, and all resolutions of the Commission on Human Rights on
the issue,
Recalling also Human Rights Council resolutions 5/1, on institution-building of the
Council, and 5/2, on the Code of Conduct for Special Procedures Mandate Holders of the
Council, of 18 June 2007, and stressing that all mandate holders shall discharge their duties
in accordance with these resolutions and the annexes thereto,
1 Decides to extend the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on the right to food
for a period of three years to enable the mandate holder to continue to work in accordance
with the mandate established by the Human Rights Council in its resolution 6/2 of 27
September 2007;
2. Requests the Secretary-General and the United Nations High Commissioner
for Human Rights to continue to provide all the human and financial resources necessary
for the continuation of the effective fulfilment of the mandate of the Special Rapporteur;
3. Calls upon all Governments to cooperate with and assist the Special
Rapporteur in her task by supplying all necessary information requested by the mandate
holder, and to give serious consideration to responding favourably to the requests of the
Special Rapporteur to visit their countries to enable her to fulfil the mandate more
effectively;
4. Requests the Special Rapporteur to report annually on the implementation of
the mandate to the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly in accordance to their
respective programmes of work.
